And I'm back to writing. Now where was I? Oh yes. I recall now. We were done with the 5 games and now we continue with the next half.
So the sixth game ordered us to construct a marshmallow tower using sticks. With only 12 soft marshmallows and 15 sticks we were asked to create a tower. At first, we had a hard time doing the task. Our coach advised us to make the foundation of our base strong and firm so that our tower will not collapse. After series of attempts, we were able to create our tower! The lesson we learned from that simple-to-look-at-yet-hard-to-do activity was that we should always plan on what to do. The marshmallows were so soft that every time we put it on a stick it would create a large hole. The members of our clubs, or organizations are as soft as those marshmallows. Aside from that, we are to make the foundation of our base firm so that our tower won't collapse. Like in our own clubs, we shouldn't build a weak one but a strong and firm foundation of a club.
Next, we had tapes on our mouth. YES -- You might want to read that again. Literally, we had tapes on our mouths. Wanna know why? Well, why else would we tape our mouths? It's to not talk, silly! As soon as all of us didn't have the ability to talk, the teacher instructed us to arrange ourselves orderly according to our birth months. And how did we do that? Here's the thing. We had youngsters to attend to who didn't understand the instruction. We had some letters on our shirts and spelled out the message for them to understand. Then, we also tried writing on the floor with water. (It was raining hard at that time so we were able to wet our fingers) After the long struggle, we were able to successfully get it right and went on with the next game.
The Next game requires creativity. Sir Nelly and Teacher Jenny tested our skills in being resourceful. They provided us with scraps, newspapers, twigs, leaves, and scotch tape. We were to create a female and male character out from these materials in a period of 15 minutes. Among all the games I tested, this was the most fun of all! I created and designed the pants of the male boy and helped with the necessary preparations. Afterwards, I had an impromptu explanation of our scenario. As far as I can remember, I said this: "This scene depicts a young prince saving the princess from a monster. And we the crowd were witnesses of his glory." Then, we were required to give a yell. Since we were a combinations of monkeys and owls (read my last post to know) We had this:
"We are .. We are .. the Monkowls. The Monkowls! We are gonna rock this town. Rock this town!"
And since that was over, we had another game to test our trust within our leader and in following instructions, so sir Ariane brought us to different places, under tables with our eyes closed and blindfolded. It was one heck of an experience because we were asked to jump with out us even knowing how deep the depth was. Haha!
Next, we had a game with Sir Bong! He gave us a situation:
"There is a village. And in this village, there was a leakage of Mercury. There are 5 patients that are to be carried across 6 rivers in order to reach the clinic."
So, I was the nurse at the other edge of the hall so I didn't know what strategies they decided to bring the patients. We all did it in a quick time and it gave us a lesson that all lives are precious. Each millesecond of our lives, is precious. Being a good leader means you know how to manage your time and care about other people's well being.
And lastly, (We were actually the last group to finish all ten obstacles) we had Sir Harvey's game.
We were asked to think on how to cross the place with molten lavas beneath us. The first person will put the 5 folders which we will step on in order to cross. Jansen, Monique and Andre sacrificed to carry the youngsters and assist us in crossing. We did it successfully. Next, we were to face a sort of laser test. The first 3 members are able to touch the lasers. Yet the next members are not to touch the straws that are tied (lasers). We helped in carrying the young ones and I slid to the other side even if it had my back in chaos of dirt. It was like military training 'cuz we had to slid and make our shirts dirty. But it was all worth it.
We had a sharing of our lessons learned. And I shared. I am still ashamed of what I said a while ago but I didn't regret joining my final Leadership Training at SHJMS (our school). Hope this training will be improved and passed on to the following leaders to come. =)
After fixing myself, Sette, Ken and I went to Gaisano and rewarded ourselves with some Sundae (or rather, Saturdaes) and went home happily. I quickly turned on my PC and began writing this. :)
Teheee. Till here!
More posts if I have more experiences! Wish me luck!
